7 Layer Salad
Ingredients
1 head lettuce, shredded1/2 Cup celery, diced
1/2 Cup red onion, diced
8 oz peas, frozen
2 Tbsps Sugar
2 Cups mayonnaise (I use Miracle Whip)
4 oz cheddar cheese, shredded (I use at least 6 oz)
8 oz bacon, crumbled (More if you really like bacon)
2 - 4 Hard boiled eggs sliced in rings (Optional)
Instructions
Fry the bacon crisp, drain it and put on paper towel to remove as much grease as possible.** The original recipe calls for one layer of each item. I divide everything in half and layer as stated below, then proceed with a second layer of each item in the same order.**
Shred the lettuce and spread half in a layer on the bottom of a large salad bowl.
Add a layer of celery. Then a layer of red onion. Then a layer of frozen peas. Add the peas frozen, don't thaw them. Add a layer of hard boiled eggs.
Keep each layer separate, don't mix together.
Mix the sugar and mayonnaise and spread in a layer on top of the peas (or eggs).
Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the mayonnaise layer.
Add the crumbled bacon on top.
Cover and refrigerate several hours - overnight is even better.
