Cornbread- Betty Crocker
I grew up eating this cornbread with beans. Overtime, the recipe has been adapted but it still remains one of my favorites.


1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
4tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup butter, divided in two


Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Put cast iron pan into oven while it preheats. Mix all ingredients except 1/4 cup butter. When oven is ready take out cast iron pan Put in 1/4 cup butter and swirl until it melts and coats pan. Put baking mixture into pan. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
