BBQ Pork Chops

Ingredients

Wash Pork Chops (about 4-6)
This is also good made with Sirloin Chops or even boneless Pork Ribs
1 Cup Catsup
1/4 Cup Worcestershire
1/2 tsp Salt (I omit)
1 1/2 to 2 Cups Water (to suit taste) I usually do 2 cups

1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

2 Oranges, Sliced

Instructions

In a frying pan, lightly brown the pork chops in a small amount of oil.
In a sauce pan with a lid. Add:

1 Cup Catsup
1/4 Cup Worcestershire
1/2 tsp Salt (I omit)
1 1/2 to 2 Cups Water (to suit taste) I usually do 2 cups
1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

Bring sauce to a boil. Turn down the heat and Add:
2 Oranges, Sliced
(I remove the peeling and white pith as much as possible so it doesn't add a bitter taste) If you like a slightly bitter taste, leave some rind.
Add the browned chops to the sauce. Cover and bring to a boil. Once the steam starts to escape from under the lid, turn the heat down to Medium Low or Low. Cook approx 1 hour

Serve over mashed potatoes, with the Sauce like a thin gravy.

This is an extended family favorite. I think everyone does it differently though. I know my Aunt Cindy makes it differently than my Mom. I make it differently than my Mom, etc etc. The original recipe that my Mom wrote for me in 1980 says only 1 Tb of brown sugar, and instead of 2 oranges it calls for 1 orange, 1 lemon, but that was very bitter. This sauce/gravy is even better the second day... if it lasts that long.
