This recipe is really a guide - you make it to suite your tastes!

Ingredients

BASE
Browned Meat of choice - ground beef, turkey, sausage or deer - cook with onions, garlic and any other seasonings you like, can combine meats
2 - 28 oz cans Tomato Puree
2 - 28 oz cans Diced Tomatoes or whole if you like bigger tomato chunks
1-2 15.5 oz beans of choice (I like to use the beans with the chili flavor but you can use kidney, navy, pinto or any bean you prefer)
1-2 packages of chili seasoning (I like the kits like 2 alarm chili kit - you can make it hot or mild)
1 medium size onion, diced
Minced Garlic
Salt
Pepper

OPTIONAL
Green Bell Peppers
Jalapeno Peppers
Macaroni
Diced Potatoes
Frozen Corn
Additional Spices to taste - cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil
Additional Water
Cheese, sour cream & Fritos

Instructions

Brown your meat and add in the minced garlic, salt, pepper and onion (plus peppers if you want them). Add meat to pot (or crock pot) then pour in your canned ingredients (tomato puree, tomatoes and beans). Add chili seasoning and cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. Taste your chili once it's warm to determine if you need additional spices. You can let this simmer as long as you like - the longer it cooks the better it tastes. If you like your chili less thick, add additional water. If you want to use potatoes, add these in early so they can cook. If you want macaroni, it's best if you cook separate and add to your bowl before you serve. My family likes this with shredded cheese, sour cream and Fritos!
