This is an old family recipe that my mother learned from her Aunt Margaret (Grandpa Sherban's sister). By changing the shape and color of the cookie we serve them at bridal showers (Hearts and Bells in the bridal colors), baby showers, and Christmas (red bells and green trees).

Ingredients

*1 Cup Butter
2/3 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 tsp Almond Extract

* I always double the recipe.

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°

Beat butter, sugar and almond extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add egg, stir well. Gradually beat in flour.

Fill cookie press with dough following manufacturer's directions. Press dough onto baking sheets. Sprinkle with candies and sprinkles.

Bake for 8 - 10 minutes. Do not over brown.

Yield: 3 to 5 dozen depending on cookie shape. Double recipe = 6 to 10 dozen.

48 Bells Per Tube - 100 cookies per recipe (200 for double recipe)
42 Trees Per Tube
