Detroit's Root Beer Float
Eat slowly, starting with the cold frozen foam on top, scooping ice cream and root beer together with your spoon.
Use the straws to sip the remainder of creamy root beer left in the glass
Nothing feels more refreshing than a tall glass of ice cold root beer topped with a large scoop of ice cream sitting atop the glass, and served with a straw and spoon. It is delicious, nutritious, and is known as a Root Beer Float!
Ingredients
A & W Root BeerVanilla Ice cream
Whipped Cream
Cherry maraschino
Instructions
Fill each glass 3/4 full with root beer. Set the glass on small plates so you can catch the overflow from the fizz.Slowly add one scoop of vanilla ice cream into each glass. Drizzle a small amount of root beer on top of the ice cream. This will turn to foam. Keep pouring until your glass is full.
Be careful because the glasses may begin to overflow as the ice cream begins to float. If this happens, keep the foam to a minimum by pouring the root beer first, stirring and waiting for the bubbles to subside before adding the ice cream. Be sure you tilt the glass to the side and slowly pour in the root beer the same way you'd treat beer anytime you pour

Tips for Making the Best Root Beer Float:
Use a tall glass, preferably a float glass or a beer stein.
Freeze your glasses prior to use for an extra frosty experience.
Use a quality root beer like A&W® Root Beer.
Pour the root beer in slowly at an angle to reduce fizz and risk of overflow.
Use a quality vanilla ice cream, always start with two scoops, but you can do more if you prefer to enjoy your floats with a spoon instead of a straw.
Top with whipped cream and a cherry.
