Mothers Tacos

Ingredients

1 large onion
2 cloves garlic minced
1 pound ground beef (80/20)
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin
shortening for frying taco shells
12 corn tortillas

garnish:
lettuce
1 medium onion diced
1/2 pound fine shredded cheddar cheese
Tabasco or Louisiana hot sauce


Instructions

In a large skillet suttee large onion garlic. Add ground beef, salt, chili powder, cumin and cook over medium high heat until done. Drain. If mixture is to dry add a little water. Heat shortening over medium high heat. Add tortilla. Fry on one side until the tortilla forms bubbles, then on the other. Usually about 3-5 seconds. Fold over to make a taco sandwich. Cook 15 seconds on each side. Remove and salt with kosher salt. Add beef to bottom of each tortilla then garnish with lettuce, diced tomatos, onion, cheese, topping with sour cream and hot sauce.
