Mrs. Ninassi's Italian Pepper Cookies
Mrs. Ninassi is Auntie Annies's Mom. She made these cookies every Christmas. They are wonderful. We all rushed to get some when ever they were put out. It is a wonderful memory. Mrs. Ninassi passed away in 2008, and we miss her. I only hope when I attemt to make them, I do her proud.

Ingredients

When warm cookies are wrapped, condensation will make them soggy. Keep different varieties of cookies in separate containers. When combined, soft cookies may make crispy cookies limp

For Cookies
8 cups Flour
1 tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
9 tsp Baking Powder
2 1/3 cups Sugar
2 cups Cocoa
1 1/4 cups Crisco (Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening Baking Sticks)
1/2 qrt. Milk or a little less
5 eggs
1 Orange rind
1/2 box Raisins
1 cup Nuts
1 Jigger Whiskey
1 TBS Instant Coffee or more to taste

For Icing
1 Box Confectioners Sugar
1/2 qt Milk

Instructions

Preheat Oven 350 Degres

Cookies
Melt crisco in equal part milk, do not boil. Mix together all ingredience.Add milk a little at a time. Remove from mixer and kneed until well formed. Make small balls. Bake at 350 oven for 5 to 8 Minutes.

Icing
Mix together the sugar and milk. Amost runny n texture. Rub on cooled cookies by hand.
