Fruit Slush (Bev's Fruit Popsicles)
Ingredients
2 cups sugar3 cups water
3 oranges (juiced and seeded)
3 lemons (juiced and seeded)
3 bananas
1 lg can peaches (with the juice)
1 lg can crushed pineapple
1 cup sliced or diced strawberries
1/2 to 1 cup of diced maraschino cherries
Instructions
Bring the water and sugar to a boil, set aside to cool. Blend peaches with the juice in a blender or smash with a potato masher. They need to be chunky so don't over blend. Add the bananas, pineapple, strawberries, maraschino cherries and juices from the oranges and lemons. Stir together, then add the cooled sugar syrup.I usually double the recipe but use the same amount of syrup. If I were to make it once I'd half the syrup added. When it's all mixed together, spoon or pour into small paper cups, add a Popsicle stick and freeze.
This was originally to be made and frozen then add sprite or 7-up for a slush drink, but, what Bev and I do is pour the finished mixture into small paper cups and then freeze. You can add a Popsicle stick and it's really handy for kids to just grab and go during the summer.
Recipe from Bev Iseri, Ontario, OR, 1981. This has been a family favorite of ours for over 30 years.
