How to Build the Perfect Hoagie
In Pennsylvania they call a Submarine Sandwich a Hoagie.
Ingredients
the Italian Hoagies1 hoagie roll
1 1/2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 slices provolone cheese
1.5 oz Genoa salami
1.5 oz soppressata
1.5 oz capicola
1.5 oz pepperoni
shredded lettuce
thin-sliced onion
pickled cherry peppers
pepperoncini
salt
pepper
dried oregano*
dried parsley*
red wine vinegar
thin sliced tomatoes
Instructions
Cut the roll length-wise almost entirely through so you can easily open it, but it stays together.Lightly drizzle the bread with the oil on both sides.
Cover the bread with an even layer of the cheese.
Layer the meats over the cheese so it covers the cheese evenly.
Top with the lettuce, onion, peppers and pepperporcini.
Sprinkle the salt, pepper, and herbs over the toppings, then drizzle lightly with the red wine vinegar. Top with the sliced tomatoes to pack the toppings in.
Close the roll and cut in half. Enjoy!
Notes
Store the hoagies wrapped tightly in the refrigerator for up to three days.
