Ingredients
Potato Rolls:1 pkg yeast
1/2 water
1/2 cup hot mashed potatoes
4 to 4-1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup milk, scalded
1 egg
2 tablespoos sugar
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1-1/4 teaspoons salt
Pepper
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cups finely shredded cabbage
Instructions
Potato Rolls:Soften yeast in warm water. Combine potaotoes, shortening, sugar, salt and milk. Cool to lukewarm. Add softened yeast anbd egg. Stir in 2 cups flour; beat well. Stir in remaining flour. Knead on lightly floured board till smooth and elastic. Place in lightly greased bowl, turning to grease all surfaces. Cover and let rise till double. Punch down and proceed for beerocks recipe.
Prepare potato rolls. While rolls are rising brown beef. Add shredded cabbage, onion, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 15 minutes. Cool
Roll dough into 2 rectangles. Cut squares approximately 4 x 4-inches. Place serving of meat mixture onto each square (about 1/4 cup). MEAT MUST BE COOL. Fold dough over and seal, shaping roll into ball. Place 2 inches apart on greashed cookie sheet; cover and let rise 20-30 minutes or until doubled.
Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden and fairly hard when touched. Brush with butter. Serve with catsup, salsa, sour cream, chilli sauce, cheese. Whatever sounds good.
