Yeast Rolls


1/2 cup warm water
2 pkg dry yeast
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
5 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 egg


Place yeast in warm water stir and set aside. In broiler add milk, sugar, shortening, and salt and bring to a boil. Cool to luke warm, stir in 2 cups flour and blend well. Add egg and yeast, stir, add remaining flour a little at a time. Put in greased bowl, grease top of dough, cover and let rise 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and then let rest for 5 minutes. Shape into rolls on greased baking sheet. Cover tops with melted grease. Cover and let rise 45 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees until brown. Serve with butter.
