Brussels Sprouts, Bacon Wrapped
Impress your friends and family with this simple to make appetizer or side dish. Prepare the Brussel sprouts and wrap tightly in a strip of bacon. Add a maple syrup over top (optional) and bake until golden brown.
The original recipe calls for using whole Brussels sprouts and an entire piece of bacon. We found we liked them smaller & cut the sprouts and bacon in half.
Ingredients
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed & cut in half1 pound bacon, slices cut in half (thin sliced bacon is easier to use)
Salt and Pepper to taste
3 Tablespoons maple syrup - Optional
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and set aside.Trim the stem ends off the Brussels sprouts then cut in half. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cut the bacon in half and wrap each Brussels sprout with bacon and secure with a toothpick. (Depending on the bacon you may want the toothpick to go completely through the sprout) Lay them onto the baking sheet.
Optional - Brush on top of the Brussels sprouts with maple sugar.
Bake bacon wrapped Brussel sprouts: Bake for 30 minutes tossing them half way through until the bacon is crisp and Brussels sprouts are tender. Remove immediately from the baking sheet and place them on a serving dish.
