Brussels Sprouts - Microwave
When time is too short to roast brussels sprouts, this microwave version is quick and delicious. I add cooked mushrooms and sausage to make a more flavorful and heartier side dish.
Ingredients
1-1/2 pounds brussels sprouts (cut in half)1/4 cup water
1/4 teaspoon celery salt (or to taste)
Pinch pepper
Parmesan/Romano cheese (or any grated cheese - cheddar, swiss, etc.)
1/2 cup finely crushed cornflakes (or any cereal like Rice Chex)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
Optional - sautéed mushrooms, kielbasa or any sausage cut into bite sized pieces then browned
Instructions
Place the brussels sprouts in a microwave-safe dish; add water. Sprinkle with celery salt and pepper. Cover and microwave on high for 6-8 minutes or until tender, stir halfway through. Drain. Sprinkle with cheese; microwave on high for 30-60 seconds or until cheese begins to melt. Combine cornflakes and butter, sprinkle over sprouts.I made this in October 2022.
