Basic Buttercream Frosting (Improved Apr 2023)
Ingredients
1 cup butter, cut in chunks, room temp4 cup confectioner's sugar
2 tbsp milk/heavy cream
1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
1. Beat butter 1 min @ speed 4 to fluffy. Scrap.2. Beat in milk, vanilla. Scrap.
3. Add sugar 1 cup at a time. Stir 30 sec. Scrap.
5. Aerate 1 min @ speed 4.
1 Portion - 48 mini or 12 regular.
1.5 Portion - 2 layer 9" cake.
Spatula test - stick vertically in, pull vertically up, flip 90 degrees, defined soft curl tip should hold its shape.
Too thin, add 1/4 cup powdered sugar or chill 10 min at a time.
Too think, add 1 tbsp milk/heavy cream at a time.
Stiff - for 3D shapes
Medium - smooth and spreadable, for flat shapes. Soft curl tip marker.
Thin - Crumb and frost cakes, lettering.
