Oyster Stew
Oysters. Most people either love ’em or they hate ’em. If you’re a LOVER like me, then you are going to absolutely ADORE this easy and perfectly seasoned Oyster Stew!
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter1/2 cup minced celery
2 green onions, sliced
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic
16 ounces raw oysters, undrained
1 bay leaf
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Pinch of nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
1 cup milk
2 cups half and half
Instructions
In a dutch oven or soup pot, melt butter over moderately high heat. Add celery, green onions and garlic and saute until celery and onions are tender, stirring constantly (about 2 minutes).Reduce heat to medium low. Add remaining ingredients and allow to heat until the edges of oysters start to curl.
Remove and discard bay leaf before serving. Serve with crackers, if desired.
