Lasagna (Mama E)
Ingredients
250g (8 oz) Lasagna noodles1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese.
Meet Sauce:
1 tablespoon oil
500g (1lb) minced steak
2 x 470g (150 oz) cans whole tomatoes
1 small oion
125g (4 oz) mushrooms
1 clove garlic
1 beef stock cube
1 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp basil
1/4 tsp rosemary
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
Cheese sauce:
60 g (2 oz) butter
4 tbs flour
2 cups milk
salt, pepper
pinch nutmeg
125 g (4 oz) grated processed cheese (cheddar)
1 tbs grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
Meet Sauce direction:Cook it the way you make spaghetti sauce.
Cheese sauce direction:
Melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour: cook gently, stirring, 1 minute. Gradually add the milk, stir until sauce boils and thickens. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg. Add cheeses, stir until cheeses melt.
Repeat the layers of meat sauce, then cheese sauce, and finally the third layer of noodles to cover top completely.
Sprinkle top with grated parmesan cheese. Bake in moderate oven 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven, gently pour or spoon cream over the top of cheese. Bake for further 10 to 15 minutes.
