Thumbprint Cookies
Ingredients
1 c shortening or butter
1/2 c brown sugar
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1/2 tsp salt
Ground nuts
egg whites
Instructions
Blend butter, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Add flour and salt to mixture. Shape into 1 inch balls. Roll into beaten egg whites mixture then into ground nuts. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 min. Remove from oven and press with thumb gently on top of each cookie. Bake 8 min. more. Decorate with confectioners sugar icing or jelly or chopped fruit.
