Cherry Pie Filling (Ia Farmer)
Ingredients
3/4 c water or cherry juice
3 c cherries
2 c sugar
1/4 c corn starch
1 tbsp butter
1/4 tsp red food coloring
Instructions
Cook first two ingredients 19 minutes. Mix with sugar and corn starch. Cook mixture until it thickens, then add butter and food coloring. Cool slightly before pouring into bottom pie shell and topping with pie crust. Place top dough over and cut off extra dough and crimp edges. Cut four slots in top 1" wide to cover crimped edges. Sprinkle top with sugar and bake 50 minutes at 400 degrees or until golden brown.
