Mexican Slaw - Favorite
Ingredients
2 c sugar1 c vinegar
1/4 c water ( I don't put in the water as I find after it sits on the cabbage, it needs the extra vinegar taste.)
1 tsp celery seed to taste
1 tbsp mustard seed
Instructions
Mix sugar, vinegar & water. Boil 2 minutes. Sprinkle in celery seed and mustard seed. Cool. Keeps indefinitely in refrigerator.Serve on a mixture of 1 head of chopped cabbage (chop cabbage and add 1 tsp salt, let sit for at least one hour and drain, squeeze off liquid), green pepper, carrot and onion. Let dressing stand on vegetables at least 30 minutes before serving.
