Grandma Gruhn's Apple Pie

Ingredients
Crust2/3 c lard
2 c all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
1/4 c very cold water
1 tsp vinegar
1 egg yolk
Filling
3/4 c sugar
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
Cinnamon to taste
3 1/2 c sliced and peeled apples (grandma uses a variety of apples but thought McIntosh are especially good in this pie.
Butter to dot on top
Instructions
In a large bowl, work lard, flour and salt together; add water, vinegar and egg yolk. Work dough into a ball. Refrigerate until firm, so it's easy to roll out (overnight is best). Divide dough in half. Roll out one portion of the dough for the bottom crust; place in a 9" pie plate. Then roll out the remaining dough for top crust and set aside.In a large bowl, mix sugar, flour and cinnamon. Add apples and stir to coat with sugar mixture. Spoon into crust. Place several pats of. Utter on top of filling.
Place top crust over filling; seal and flute edges. Sprinkle a pinch or two of sugar on top. Cut a few slits (or a small design) I to crust so steam can escape. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
