Smokey Beef and Cheese Burgers
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef8 oz Smokey sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded.
1/2 c finely chopped onion
1/2 c finely chopped green pepper
1/4 c chili sauce
2 tbsp prepared mustard
1 tsp sweet leaf basi, crushed
1 (1lb) loaf French Bread, cut diagonally into 16 (inch thick) slices or 8 hamburger buns, split
Instructions
In medium bow, combine all ingredients except bread. Blend well. * Spread about 1/4 c sandwich mixture on each bread slice or bun half. Place spread side up on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until well browned and bubbly. Serve immediately. Great served with tomato soup ( or soup of choice). Yield: 8 servings (2 sandwiches per serving)*Can be prepared ahead to this point. Cover and refrigerate.
