Waldorf Red Cake
Ingredients
1/2 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 oz (4 T.) red food coloring
1 tsp vanilla
2 Tbsp cocoa
1 tsp salt
1 c buttermilk
2 1/4 c cake flour (or regular flour sifted several times)
1 tsp soda
1 tbsp vinegar
Instructions
Cream shortening, sugar and eggs. Make a paste of food coloring, vanilla and cocoa and add to first mixture. Add buttermilk and salt alternately iwth flour. Then add soda and vinegar. Pour into two 9" layer pans and bake in 350 degrees oven for 30 minutes. split layers and frost with Waldorf Frosting.
