Sausage Cheese Biscuits
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, cut into pats
2 cups little smokies, cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup buttermilk
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425 F. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the pats of butter, and work into flour until the mixture is crumbly. Add the sausage and cheese to mixture. Stir in the buttermilk and mix until everything is evenly moistened. Transfer the dough to a piece of parchment paper or a lightly floured work surface. Roll the dough into an 8"x10" rectangle about 3/4" thick. Cut the dough into 2" squares. Separate the biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper about 1" apart. Bake the biscuits for about 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack. Makes 20 servings.
