Classic Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients
2 pounds potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/2 cup milk
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil. Cook for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. While the spuds are cooking, combine the milk and butter in a medium saucepan and slowly heat until butter melts. When the potatoes are done, drain them and place in a mixing bowl. Add half of the milk mixture and mash the potatoes at medium speed with an electric mixer. Keep adding the milk until the potatoes reach the desired consistency. Blend in seasonings to taste. Makes 4 servings.
