French Breakfast Muffins
Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 12 muffin tins. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Add butter, egg, and milk to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Distribute batter evenly into muffin tins. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown on the edges. For the topping, place melted butter in one bowl. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a separate small bowl. Dip the warm muffin tops in the melted butter, then in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Makes 12 servings.
