Pear Apple Crumble Pie
I substituted 1 1/3 cup of Graham Cracker Crumbs for 24 vanilla wafers the first time I made this pie, and we did not grease the pie plate.
Ingredients
24 Vanilla Wafers, crushed
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 9 inch pie crust
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 large baking apples, peeled, sliced and chopped
1 large pear, peeled, sliced and chopped
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Cool Whip
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 F and lightly grease a 9" pie plate. In a small bowl mix the vanilla wafers, brown sugar, and melted butter until well blended and set aside. Place the pie crust into the prepared pie plate and then carefully spread the cream cheese evenly onto the bottom of the crust. Sprinkle half of the crumb mixture over the cream cheese. Combine the apples and pears in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle the sugar, flour, and the cinnamon over the fruit, tossing to evenly coat. Spoon the fruit evenly over the crumb layer, then sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the top. Bake for 25 minutes, then to prevent over-browning, cover the pie with foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and serve with Cool Whip. Makes 8 servings.
