Ingredients
1 # ground beef
1 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
salt to taste
2 tablespoons tomato juice
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, divided
1 medium onion, half diced and half sliced
8 ounce package mushrooms, freshly sliced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons burgundy wine
14.5 oz can beef gravy
Instructions
Combine ground beef, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, tomato juice, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, and diced onion. Mix well and shape into four oval patties, 1/4" - 1/2" thick. Heat large heavy non-stick skillet over medium-high heat for 3 minutes or until hot. Place patties into skillet and cook 3 minutes per side or until browned. Transfer cooked patties to a plate and pour off drippings. Melt butter in skillet and add mushrooms. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Add the wine, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder. Cook for 1 minute. Add sliced onion and gravy, mixing well. Return patties to skillet, covering with gravy. Simmer uncovered over medium heat for 2 minutes or until desired doneness, turning meat and stirring sauce. Yields 4 servings.
